TerraCycle is finding new uses for trash, creating products ranging from bird feeders and park benches to tote bags and more. Major companies like Kraft and General Mills have taken notice, and are engaging the eco-biz to sponsor their waste streams.

Renewal2 recently announced the creation of Elevation Brands, LLC - a company using mission-driven foods to solve health and environmental challenges.

March 8, 2012 was proclaimed Social Enterprise Day by the City of Vancouver. Speaking at an event honoring that proclamation, SVI alum Kevin Lynch emphasized the importance of social entrepreneurs and their passion in shaping the economy.

In the recently released B Lab “Best For The World” list, Salt Spring Coffee was among only five Canadian companies selected. The achievement award takes into account their dedication to sustainable production, business practices from relationships with workers and suppliers, and their creation of the first lifecycle carbon neutral coffee in Canada, even down to their movement toward zero waste.
