The Evolution of Tides Canada
By Joel Solomon on October 6, 2008 - 9:40amA few words from Ross McMillan, President and CEO of Tides Canada:
"As many of you are aware, my role expanded to President and CEO of Tides Canada this July. Tim Draimin, who grew Tides with his visionary leadership, has taken on an advisory role as Tides’ first Senior Fellow. I look forward to working with you in the months and years ahead.
I have been part of Tides since 2001 and have seen the organization grow and mature remarkably in seven short years. We now house over 200 charitable giving funds, 30 Sage Centre projects, and several multi-party collaborations. The volume of donations, grants, and administration has increased dramatically, particularly in the last two years, thanks to your continued commitment and kind referrals.
This is a very exciting time in the evolution of Tides. We have strong core assets, primarily in our staff and board, who are all passionate about our mission. We’ve built solid partnerships with Canada’s environmental and social justice leaders, as well as many of North America’s leading philanthropic institutions, and our engaged donor community is expanding steadily.
As well, there is increasing awareness of the environmental and social justice issues that, just a few years ago, we worked so hard to bring to the forefront. This creates wonderful opportunities for Tides to expand its role and impact in progressive Canadian philanthropy.
You can expect to see Tides become increasingly active in helping to solve social and environmental problems. We will prioritize campaigns that bring the best minds in environmental and social justice advocacy together in cohesive actions. And you can be assured our team is committed to working even harder and smarter to achieve high-level outcomes and provide quality service to you, our clients.
