Joel Solomon Joins RSF Social Finance as Entrepreneur-at-Large
By Pamela Chaloult on May 3, 2011 - 3:18pmRSF Social Finance is pleased to announce the addition of Joel Solomon to its team.
In his role as Entrepreneur-at-Large, Joel will leverage his community connections to help RSF grow and achieve its goal of transforming the way the world works with money.
A long time associate and member of the RSF community, Joel brings two decades of impact investing experience to this new role. He has dedicated his career to aligning financial resources with positive societal and planetary impact for future generations.
“Joel is a natural fit for RSF,” says Olivia Teter, RSF’s Vice President of Client Development. “Joel’s generous spirit and deep commitment are evident in everything he does. We are thrilled to have someone of Joel’s caliber, background, and proven passion for RSF’s mission joining our team.”
Joel has played key roles in the formation and growth of innovation in business, philanthropy, leadership, and politics. Since 1992, with founder Carol Newell, Joel helped build Renewal – a collection of independent organizations executing an integrated strategy to guide capital towards long-term sustainability. Using a multi-dimensional approach of investment, charitable grant making and cross-sector collaboration, Renewal has supported the development of long-term solutions to environmental and social problems in British Columbia and beyond. Renewal is comprised of the charitable foundation, Endswell, the seed-capital investment firm, Renewal Partners Company, and the new investment fund, Renewal2. In conjunction with his work at Renewal, Joel has also worked closely with Tides Canada Foundation and Hollyhock, a learning institute on Cortes Island, BC. Through his efforts with these entities, Joel has built a working model of whole portfolio activation of money to mission.
Joel also offers other areas of expertise in social purpose real estate, organic and local food systems, and supporting green city initiatives. Joel was recently named a Community Investment Fellow at Vancity Community Credit Union, Canada’s largest credit union.
Joel expressed his enthusiasm for this next step in his career, “I'm proud to join such an esteemed financial institution as RSF Social Finance. RSF explores deeply the true meaning of money, and how finance will be activated as a force for positive societal impact. At RSF, reliable, effective products meet the aspirations of a growing wave of people and institutions who want our money to represent our values and life purpose.”
