ICASC Launches New Video and Announces the Fall Institute
Vancouver, B.C. The International Centre of Art for Social Change (ICASC), a partnership between Judith Marcuse Projects and Simon Fraser University, is pleased to announce the launch of a new 30-minute video, So What Is Art For Social Change?, with a free public showing at Simon Fraser University, Harbour Centre Campus, on Thursday, April 15th, at 6 P.M.
Featuring examples of work by a diverse group of artists from Canada and abroad and interviews with leading practitioners, the video offers a kaleidoscopic and entertaining view of this burgeoning field. Directed by Judith Marcuse and Craig Berggold, So What is Art for Social Change? is intended to provide new ideas and insights relating to the many ways that the arts are used as vehicles for potent social change in communities both close to home and around the world.
So What Is Art for Social Change? is a resource created for ICASC’s new Fall Institute, Exploring Arts for Social Change, to be offered in the Fall of 2010. Full details describing this innovative program will be available soon.
