The Centre for Social Innovation is a social enterprise with a mission to spark, connect and support new ideas that are making positive change in the world. We do this by providing shared space and services to over 100 social mission groups, acting as a community centre for social innovators, and helping to launch new entrepreneurial and collaborative projects.

We are looking for a Communications Animator who is a wizard of words, a story-teller, a web 2.0 guru and the shameless promoter of all things CSI. Equally comfortable creating Facebook campaigns, blogging, developing marketing materials and writing monthly newsletters, this person will tell our story, engage our growing community and position CSI as the hub of social innovation in Toronto and around the world.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement our marketing and communications strategy
  • Write email campaigns, newsletters, blogs and stories as part of the overall CSI communication strategy;Deepen and broaden the Innovators mailing list (5,000 subscribers)
  • Write our monthly internal newsletter for tenants and guests
  • Drive the marketing of our services - in particular the Hot Desks
  • Explore new ways to engage and involve our community in our work
  • Promote key events, workshops, etc.
  • Lead our web 2.0 work
  • Be responsible for updating and maintaining our web presence
  • Work with media to promote CSI
  • Be the primary liaison with designers and technical expertise to ensure our materials rock
  • Develop posters, e-mails, graphics, print materials, etc... on the fly to promote our work and the work of our community.

Qualifications

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • People skills and sensitivity to people's needs
  • Comfort with web 2.0 tools
  • Web site management skills (content side, not programming, although programming is a plus)
  • Familiarity with graphics programs
  • Keen eye for design and layout
  • Capacity to handle a million things
  • Enthusiasm and energy
  • Sound judgment and comfort working autonomously
  • A low-stress attitude in a complex environment
  • Familiarity with - and keen interest in - Toronto's social mission sector
  • Willingness to do whatever it takes...Zero attitude!!

You must also have a great sense of humour - seriously, you will need a great sense of humour because inevitably something will go wrong.
