The GCCA and its public brand, TckTckTck, helped dramatically grow the global climate movement during the road to Copenhagen, with a unique open source campaign that supported unprecedented collaboration among hundreds of global NGO’s. We also became well known for digital innovation, being recognized with a media “Game Changer” award and a Webby nomination.

In 2010 the GCCA has developed an ambitious 5-year alliance strategy and communications plan, with a digital strategy to support both. We now seek a senior digital campaigner to execute our digital strategy, manage the web and content teams, collaborate with peers in partner orgs, and oversee new digital development.

The ideal candidate will have a rare combination of tactical knowledge and hands-on mastery of web and social media tools, with campaigning experience, communications and storytelling skills, and political savvy. Experience in the climate movement is not necessary, and we invite fresh thinking.

Job Role

The Digital Campaign Manager will report initially to a digital strategy consultant, and collaborate with the communications coordinator, partnership coordinator, campaigns director, and Executive Director. They will lead the following components of our digital strategy:

  • Lead the action strategy: managing content flow for the upcoming Global Work Party & other key moments, working with partners to count and aggregate real changes being taken by their constituents (30%)
  • Support our ongoing pressure political campaigning: at major UN and political campaign moments, amplifying the work of our partners (20%)
  • Lead and expand the daily ongoing operations of our website, email, and social media assets, and manage our web manager and tech vendors (10%)
  • Collaborate with internal and partner staff to respond to opportunities, and support campaign functions with emergent digital solutions (10%)

  • Strong writing, storytelling, and / or editorial management skills

  • Ability to respond quickly to fast paced opportunities
  • Combined with an ability to respond to and influence or challenge Internet campaign ideas that may distract from our core competency or strategy
  • Strong technical team, outside agency, and talent management skills
  • Familiarity with NGO’s, advocacy communications, and coalitions a strong asset but not essential
This is a full time position for our virtual organization. Due to time zones the ideal candidate will be based between GMT – 4 and GMT +2.
