Hollyhock’s, Canada’s Lifelong Learning Centre, mission is to inspire, nourish and support people who are making the world better. We are seeking an emerging marketing professional with a focus on online marketing, faculty and community engagement, marketing research & development and contact management.
Presenter Marketing Support responsibilities (45%):
- Research and manage tracking of presenter marketing and outreach
- Outreach to presenters to inquire about marketing efforts, provide encouragement and serve as the Hollyhock marketing point of contact
- Host and organize Presenter Marketing Training calls
- Send emails (usually once a month Jan - May) to presenters with marketing suggestions, best practices and required follow-up
- Coach presenters on use of social media tools and other marketing opportunities
- Send program flyers to presenters along with distribution best practices
- Create, research and update a marketing tool kit to support presenters (Presenter Marketing Support page)
- Send program specific outreach to past Hollyhock participants
- Work with Programs Director to brainstorm presenter marketing ideas
Online Marketing responsibilities (20%):
- Recruit, train and manage Social Marketing Volunteers
- Create and post content regularly to Hollyhock’s blog site, www.hollyhocklife.org.
- Monitor presence on social networking sites, social media campaigns and day-to-day activities
- Become an advocate of Hollyhock in social media spaces
- Monitor effective benchmarks for campaigns and analyze, review, and report on effectiveness
- Work with Program Development team to identify, connect, support and utilize Hollyhock presenter online networks
- Support efforts for online advertising
- Monitor trends in social media tools and applications
- Assist with coordination, copy, and assembly of monthly e-newsletter, and respond to replies
- Develop, implement and monitor SEO
Vancouver Marketing responsibilities (20%):
- Represent Hollyhock at public events
- Deliver Hollyhock catalogues and flyers to Vancouver and surrounding area locations
- Develop relationships with key drop catalogue drop locations
- Organize annual Hollyhock Catalogue Launch Party
- Recruit and manage an annual Vancouver Marketing Volunteer to support with catalogue deliveries and events
- Develop mutually beneficial relationships with new partners, and maintain existing ones (e.g. Banyen Books, DLC, SPUD, etc.)
Marketing Contact Research responsibilities include (5%):
- Support other Hollyhock departments by researching, capturing and tracking potential key marketing contacts including media/public relations, potential groups, presenters, and target audiences/partners.
eTapestry responsibilities (5%):
- Be familiar with system main functions (i.e. how to input data, look up information, issue reports, etc.)
- Create and issue fundraising reports, as needed
- Within Renewal office: Trouble shoot technology, answer door buzzer, etc.
- Hollyhock: Email, Marketing Mtg minutes as needed, etc.
- Other duties requested by Marketing Manager and CEO
Job Requirements:
- Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format, and build and maintain relationships
- Good technical understanding and can pick up new tools & systems quickly
- Team player, with the confidence to take the lead and guide other departments when necessary
- Proven record and talent to self-manage
- Engaging and inviting presence
- Attention to detail
- A ‘can do’ attitude
- Project management or organizational skills
- Knowledge and understanding of social media platforms for business (Facebook, Youtube, Twitter, Flickr etc.)
- Experience with contact management a plus, but not required
- A highly organized individual with an instinct for how information needs to be organized and accessed by multiple stakeholders
- Experience in Wordpress a plus
- Candidate must have a positive attitude, high degree of organizational skills, be able to maintain confidentiality, and thrive in a team environment
- Administrative fluency in tools such as Excel, Word, etc.
- Relevant Business/Marketing degree is bonus and helpful.
- Evening/weekend availability to attend events (at least once a month)
