The Coordinator will also launch and coordinate a social media strategy, and encourage public participation in CACL online communities and campaigns to help meet our movement-building goals; this position also supports our policy advocacy, fundraising and public education initiatives. We are looking for a creative, experienced and highly organized person who can devise, create and implement online outreach strategies for our communities through messaging campaigns, social networking and blogs to increase public involvement in our cause.
Duration: 1-year full-time position, possibility of extension

Duties and Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting our National Office team with developing our new website (currently in process) and maintaining it post-launch;
- Implementing CACL's online communications strategy, and developing it further over time;
- Coordinating online promotions and outreach;
- Managing online communities and assisting the National Office team in doing so;
- Helping to ensure CACL materials are distributed as widely as possible; maintaining and expanding networks; liaising with individuals and organizations in a range of sectors, including academic, non-profit, government and others;
- Developing and maintaining the master content calendar for all online communications;
- Working with the Manager of Fund Development to create and maintain content and manage online presence and outreach for prospective donors;
- Advising CACL on the most effective social media tools to reach targeted audiences;
- Supporting and managing a content approval process involving several other content creators to ensure that content is well-edited and proofread;
- Updating and maintaining the CACL web site, Facebook page, and YouTube channel;
- Assisting in the production and creation of multimedia content (video and audio);
- Producing weekly online information updates and e-newsletters;
- Web support and troubleshooting; liaising with programmers/web developers;
- Monitoring web analytics and creating detailed reports.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Superior written and oral communications and organizational skills;
- Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities and perform problem analysis and resolution at strategic and functional levels;
- University degree or College diploma in a related field or demonstrated equivalent education and/or work experience equivalent;
- Three (3) to five (5) years of working experience in a related field;
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of issues of importance to CACL – intellectual disability, human rights, inclusion and equality;
- Demonstrated understanding of current social media platforms;
- Direct, demonstrated experience developing content for websites, blogs, social networks, email newsletters, etc.;
- Demonstrated ability to work with designers, developers and other contractors;
- Experience coordinating online communities and facilitating communication among people with diverse backgrounds, interests and priorities;
- Comfortable with the production aspects of Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent (for creating graphics for online use); capacity for more advanced technical skills is a plus.
- Experience in Drupal website content management systems highly desirable. (Experience working with other content management systems is also helpful.) Ability to articulate and work with the ideas in CACL publications; commitment to the CACL’s purpose and success;
- Experience using web-based email distribution systems;
- A high degree of overall competence using computers, including: an understanding of web technologies; experience working in the Mac OS and ability to do basic troubleshooting; knowledge of Microsoft Office suite and standard internet and email applications;
- Ability to work effectively in a busy environment under multiple deadlines;
- Flexibility and adaptability;
- Attention to detail and ability to manage projects effectively;
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Fluency in French.
Experience in the following areas is an asset:
- Media/public relations or marketing;
- Working in a non-profit environment;
- Coordinating campaigns and e-campaigns;
- Experience with video production and knowledge of related software;
- Providing training sessions to an audience with differing web-based skills.
