Ratana, and her husband Arran, began one of Canada's first natural food stores in 1971. The LifeStream® store grew to become a brand of natural and organic whole grain foods that reached all across North America, and was eventually sold to Kraft Foods.
In the early 1980s Ratana owned and operated Woodlands, a very successful vegetarian restaurant in Vancouver. It was here that she honed her skills as a business manager who looked after the bottom line, as well as her 35+ staff members.
In 1985, the Stephens' created Nature's Path Foods in order to continue promoting their strong belief of organic whole grain foods as a better way to support a healthy lifestyle and healthy planet.
As Chief Operating Officer of Nature's Path, Ratana helped direct the company's incredible growth while maintaining its independence and financial viability.
Today, Nature's Path is North America's largest certified organic breakfast foods company, employing a talented team of 350 people, operating four state-of-the-art, certified organic production facilities in British Columbia, Ontario, Washington State and Wisconsin.
In recognition of its progressive HR practices, MacLean's Magazine and MediaCorp have included Nature's Path Foods in "Canada's Top 100 Employers" for the past three years in a row.
As well as being an experienced professional manager, providing guidance and leadership in areas of the company's operations, sales and finance, Ratana has an enduring commitment to family, community, and the sustainability of mother earth.
