Great Social Change Career Opportunity
By Thea Richmond on June 25, 2008 - 1:14pmThe Hollyhock Leadership Institute (HLI) is looking for a Senior Consultant. Keep reading for more details regarding this employment opportunity.
HLI is a Vancouver-based enterprising non-profit organization whose mission is to empower current and emerging leaders to create high impact social change. With a focus on environmental and social mission organizations, we offer a range of training courses, strategy sessions and facilitation services. A sampling of our clients include: VANOC, Tides Canada Foundation, Mountain Equipment Co-op, Rainforest Solutions Project, Ethical Funds, The Minerva Foundation for BC Women, the Northern Society for Domestic Peace, and the Tides Foundation.
We are seeking an experienced, outgoing senior consultant with strong facilitation, strategic advising, and project management skills. In this role you’ll manage all aspects of client relationships, from workplan development to project delivery. Services range from single meeting facilitation to long term project management, and may include strategic planning, agenda design and facilitation, stakeholder dialogue and engagement, training, and conference/meeting organization.
The ideal candidate will possess:
Politically astute and strategic, you are skilled at bringing groups together to work on joint projects for the environmental, sustainability and social change fields. Comfortable with generating ideas, building campaigns, and being strategic with messaging and communications, you may have worked as a consultant yourself, or with an organization that collaborates with many stakeholders. You are engaged in changing the world yourself and are committed to helping others bring about change whether it is political, social, environmental or economic.
You love variety, are a “self-starter” and have a great mix of professionalism and critical thinking skills combined with creativity, humour, and perhaps a healthy dose of spirituality? Unafraid of generating new relationships and projects, you want to work with a team and with clients who want to change the world and shift the status quo. You want the kind of job that gives you meaningful work, exciting projects, and great relationships.
Some ideal traits would be:
· 5 years experience in non-profit and/or for-profit consulting
· An area of training expertise, (e.g. organizational development, leadership, strategic planning, board development, communications, stakeholder engagement)
· Facilitation experience
· Project management experience
· Excellent oral and written communication
· A passion for collaboration, networking and relationship development
· Knowledge and experience in non-profit capacity-building and/or leadership development
· People-positive; independent; mission-aligned
Salary and Hours:
If you are the right candidate, we will work with you to create a position and compensation that helps us both excel. Ideally we’d like a minimum of a 3 day a week commitment.
