Working with the Community - Our Commitment
One of Renewal Land Company's key goals is to work with Cortes residents to create projects that will benefit island residents and promote community ideals. We have worked extensively since early 2003 to involve island residents, hosting a series of public forums and meeting with over 400 people and many island organizations to talk about the Siskin Lane project and incorporate feedback.
We need your continued involvement to make our projects a success! Please contact us if you would like to arrange a meeting with someone from the RLC team, or if you have any comments or suggestions.

LIVING GREEN ON CORTES ISLAND
We are pleased to offer the latest publication from the Friends of Cortes Island - Living Green on Cortes Island. This booklet offers easy-to-implement tips on how to live more sustainably, including suggestions for green building, lowering the impact of residential use on the environment and choosing healthy products for your home. We're encouraging everyone at Siskin Lane and beyond to adopt these measures and live as lightly on the land as you can. The guide is applicable to anyone, regardless of whether you live on Cortes! The Friends of Cortes Island Society (FOCI) is a charitable organization with 250 members. Their purposes include the identification, monitoring and protection of wildlife and natural habitats, lake, river and ocean systems, and our beautiful forests. FOCI's main work is in providing educational programs that enhance ecological understanding and appreciation of the environment. Living Green on Cortes; Building Your Home is the first of what they hope will develop into a series of pamphlets to inspire folks to live more lightly on the land. FOCI has a Resource Centre with a lending library located near Manson's Hall in the Village of Manson's Landing. Please drop by and visit! They are open to the public on Fridays 1 - 4pm and Saturdays 11am - 2pm, and welcome new members. You can also contact FOCI by phone (250) 935-0087 or click here to email FOCI.
